Adult Dual Diagnosis Programs

The overall goal of our adult dual diagnosis program is to help individuals cope with both substance abuse and mental health issues.  Our programs are designed to help individuals develop lasting sobriety and develop the skills they need to cope with a variety of mental health issues without using substances.  The programs are designed to be intensive and to supplement the individual and family therapy that a client may already be receiving.  Treatment is completely individualized and focuses on the issues that matter most to the client.  The adult programs serve adults 18 years of age and older.  Our adult programs specialize in helping adults overcome a variety of issues, including:

  • Alcohol and/or drug abuse
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Low self-esteem
  • Obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Thoughts of suicide
  • Stress from daily living
  • Anger management issues
  • Work or school difficulties
  • Behavioral problems

Partial Hospitalization Program for Adults

The program uses a holistic approach that helps clients resolve issues from a mind, body, and spirit perspective.  Clients attend a variety of groups throughout the day and are provided ongoing case management.  All clients are evaluated by a psychiatrist and are provided medication management as needed.  Clients also attend our 12-step based groups in order to develop the skills they need to maintain sobriety.  Family involvement is also strongly encouraged.

Upon admission, the treatment team works with individuals and their therapists to create a specific treatment plan that addresses those problems that affect the client the most.  This highly focused approach is designed to allow clients to make significant changes in the shortest amount of time possible.  In addition, clients that are currently working with an outside therapist can continue to work with their therapist during their treatment at New Dimensions.  This helps clients maximize their gains while in New Dimensions and helps ensure ongoing continuity throughout treatment.

Intensive Outpatient Program for Adults

The Intensive Outpatient Program is a less intensive option to the Partial Day Program and is designed to help clients continue to develop the skills they need to cope with life once they leave New Dimensions.  Clients have the option of attending the morning, afternoon, or evening sessions, based on the individualized treatment plan that is created with the treatment team.  The Intensive Outpatient Program allows clients the flexibility to be able to transition back to work, school, or other activities while still receiving support from the treatment team.

Atmosphere in the Program

The program offers a casual, comfortable and confidential atmosphere.  The daily groups offer individuals a safe environment to explore difficult life issues while receiving support from the staff and other group members.  In addition, staff is available throughout the program day when patients have questions or need support.

The patients and staff function together as a community.  The open group process provides a forum for patients to develop strong connections with each other, creating a healing group environment.  These connections frequently allow patients to work through those issues that they most need to resolve.  For some patients, the bonds they create can last a lifetime .
